I'm having trouble with green hair algae and a bit of cyanobacteria, what can I do to get rid of it?

I had a problem with GHA and got rid of it doing peroxide dips. I dipped rocks in 50/50 peroxide and water, then plucked off what I could with tweezers. If I had coral on the rocks, I dipped a toothbrush in 100% peroxide and scrubbed the GHA, being carefull not to get the coral. If you check out one of my old threads, you can see the progress in just 1 week.

BUT, there also has to be a reason WHY it's there in the first place. That needs to be addressed too. Good luck.

I've used Kimbas tank rework thread as an example 20 times or more in threads agreed to that above.

It used to be that peroxide use done to speed up algae removal, making the surface of the live rock clean again, was frowned upon because it didn't address the source. As stated above finding the source completes the algae battle (then you repeat it, its cyclical)

if you work the tank clean to address the source, removing detritus stores, you can start fresh and get the longest interval between detritus export cleanings for the tank

Peroxide doesn't have to be used. It's just one tool to make the tank look great that some do like, and if you clean out waste stores you do the full prevention for that round of anti algae work

Should add

Cycling is for bacteria not algae. Having algae in a tank at any phase, to make your enjoyment less, is always optional. My reefs have no algae day one onward

Some literally want it in the tank vs the alternative, until an action taken on the water or nutrients kills it off. All just different choices.

Richie can you tell us about your tank
How many fish
How long has it been set up
Equipment you have example skimmer reactors etc.
lighting.
How often you feed.
How often do you do a water change and how much.

I have 4 fish
It's been set up for about 8 months
I have 2 HOB filters that are the big kind
I have 1 t5 and LED lights
I feed a lot for the clownfish so that they can spawn
And I do water changes once a week about 15%

Do have experience in raising clown fish fry? The feeding heavy is the cause of your hair algae. You can add a protein skimmer to help remove some of the protein in the water.
When I was raising clownfish 20 years ago I had a large system with 20 tanks tied together. An changed a lot of water. [emoji3] You might also want to use a packet of GFO in the HOB.

Is it really hard to cultivate rotifers or what is the hardest part? And what is gfo?

Hey, the clowns are now hosting the pot and the female is now becoming aggressive towards the tang when it comes near the pot, is this a sign that she may be becoming ready?
