What is this and how do I get rid of it

It's hard to tell with the heavy blue lighting, but it sure looks like cyano. How old is the tank? If it is relatively new (within a year), it's all part of a normal tank breaking in and driving you crazy. Water changes using clean RO/DI water will help.

I'm going through the same thing And I am using ro water, but my tank has only been set up for a month now. But like Caudill said siphon with water changes will take it out. I'm using gfo and it has helped some also. And the well water probably isn't helping. Have u tested your water out of the tap? Our well water has phosphates and all kinds of junk in it
