I stupidly introduced a coral with some of this, and it exploded. I had fought it back, but it exploded again due to negligence on my part.

What is this algea? I need to figure out a plan to get rid of it once and for all.

Caleurpa mexicana, best way to get rid of is by hand removal the most you can and then use hydrogen peroxide on the left over bits.

Thanks.. but it doesn't quite look like the pictures I see when googling that? I was thinking some type of Caleurpa but couldnt' find similar pictures.

Here is a close up of the 'leaves' which hang off a vine like thing.

When trying to remove it by hand, bits tend to float around the tank. Which then seems to make it grow elsewhere.. At this point it's in places all over the tank. :(

I did two 30% water changes over 2 days before leaving for a week. While at the same time scraping/pulling out as much as I could. Came back and it's even stronger than before, in new places.

Second picture looks more like caleurpa prolifera. Same method to remove

Could you take a pic of the algae outside the tank just to make sure?

absolutely! Thanks for the quick answers :D

No worries mate, it’s definitely prolifera, try and remove by hand, they normally come out in big chunks if you get it by the stalk.
