I have noticed a brownish orange spot of algea on the glass and a bit on the rocks in my marine tank that I believe to be diatoms it is the first algae I have had in my tank as it is new but do I just leave it or should I clean it off ?

Normal.

With a new tank like that, you'll most likely go through a variable phase of the 'uglies', where various forms of nuisance algae, diatoms, cyanobacteria, and/or dinoflagellates become dominant. There are various ways to manage that. Right now, that's not much at all. It's a good idea to have a scraper for the glass anyway, if you don't already. I personally prefer the Flipper.

Thanks I have touched on that with my research but you be honest I thought it would come sooner as my tank is 3 months old now
I have an algae scraper in my freshwater tank but it doesn’t work to well on the algae I have in there so I will give it a good clean and try it in my saltwater tank
