Need opinions. Run a large skimmer rated for 220g. Or run a skimmer rated 150g medium bioload/100g heavy plus an algea scrubber?

Tank is softies/lps 150g

If it’s a question on where to spend your money, go big on the skimmer and build your own scrubber dirt-cheap. ;)

I do both as well. I paid a lot for a big regal reef octopus and made my own ATS.
 
Hard to see why that would be. What was the logic in what you had been told .... if there was any? Sounds like typical LFS ‘fuzzy’ logic.
 
Just turn a larger skimmer down. You just may want that extra ability some day .
 
I’ve read the same but my ATS works well enough and hate to take something offline that works and my skimmer still skims like crazy but I feed more than I should I’m sure.
