alibaba led bars vs high end led bars

O wow those are a good deal. How many for acropora tank?

also my problem is that orphek does have great marketing because they give you actual picture of their product being used in tanks. While other leds don’t really have any picture of amazing tanks using their led’s.
I use one full spectrum and 2 ultra actinic. Running at 60%. I've had one for 4 yrs and others less. No issues. The par numbers they talk about are accurate. My newest tank I nuked 2 montis before I realized I had them full blast. I'll buy more. One lps tank on one bar. Ultra actinic.

Interesting. My gyre power brick is UL listed. My reef breeders bricks are not, however

here's the 30 mixed with one ultra and one 50/50 blue and white.

So 8 would be overkill? On. 120 gallo. Sps tank?
I don't think you would need 8. I'd start with 4. You can add and get more later. I'll bet you won't need to run 4 full blast. The salesman is named Billy. Very helpful. Give him a call or text. He's in Texas

So after watching telegraham’s video what you get out of the 5w or3 is the potential longer lifespan of the bar from running cooler than 3w. Also the housing is thicker and nicer and comes with the beveled glass.

Pretty sure 5w " class" diodes have 2 "3 w class" led cores inside them.
Not sure about reds though I suspect 2 cores in parallel.
Anyways 2 x the V(f) of 3w point in that direction.

Anyways none matters till the design and power supplies are known..

Black boxes ( and some bars) use "3 watt class" diodes with a 550mA constant current drivers.
Which is 2 watts each approx.
Use 5w class at 7V with the same driver 3.8 watts each. But it's 2 diodes..;)

Anyways just use them to increase power density per inch.

AFAICT.

Yea what he was saying is the 5w doesn’t put out more energy because the power supple is the same as the 3w. It just runs cooler hence has the potential to last longer

I contacted that factory about getting a combo of bars to build my own panel but the $200 in shipping had me wondering if it's worth the gamble. Also not too big of a fan of sending $500 straight over to China and waiting for who knows how long for it to arrive here in the states. Seems like they have a decent reputation though.

I'm now considering the Quanta bars. I know some claim they are the same as well but they look very nice and aren't all that expensive. The more I look at them the more they seem to be different with diode counts, colors ect. Really it looks like the housing is just the same. Also 5w vs 3w I believe. I think they are both under driven, it's about saving heat since it's passively cooled from what I understand.
I'm waiting to see some more reviews on them before making my final decision but they look promising, specially with the 120 degree optics.

I could save about 50% after shipping is what mine came to. Orphek vs Alibaba I'd probably take the gamble on Herifi bars as they look really similar. Quanta I think is going to have an edge on both.

Maybe many brands have not applied for patents. so there are a lot of similar look/shape, If you are interested, you can buy it and test it.

Amazing, how many lights to buy to make the shipping cost up to $200?

2x ReefbarPros heavy blue. Corals doing way better than they were previously with Fluval LEDs. Currently running 37% channel 2 (white/UV/cool blue) and 60% channel 1 (actinic). Also, my pom pom gracilaria seems to have doubled over the past few weeks. Good lights if you don't require all the app bells and whistles.

3W LEDs have much deeper penetration through the water than the 0.25W small chip LEDs that are commonly found on strip lights. I would imagine 5W LEDs have even better penetration, so you'd get the same par on your sandbed for much less % power.

That was for 6 , 36" bars

I’m cautious about using anything that isn’t UL Listed around water in my home and made with the cheapest components plus many home insurance policies are voided due to fires caused by such a product. Why risk home and family to save a few bucks? Especially when used quality always available since some must always have the latest and greatest.
For the most part, UL listing requirements seem like a myth for residential home insurance. For most insurance, fire is a covered peril regardless of how it starts. The exception is if the fire starts from faulty household wiring (not the end device). At least, that is my understanding and what I could gather from the internet. Commercial insurance could come with UL or similar requirements.

I am interested to learn more about this tho. I am not sure if any entry-level audiophile gear is UL listed. Similarly, many lamps and whatnot might not be UL listed or approved.

I currently have Orphek OR2 blue plus bars and RB xho’s, but just bought three 3’ Quanta Pro meso blue bars and I can say with absolute certainty that the Quanta bars out perform Orphek and xho’s together. These bars are legit and I would recommend them to anyone considering supplementing your current lights or even using them as your main source of light. These are not the same as the other bars and have been heavily modded to maximize their performance. I just put them over my tank to get a few measurements, so they’re roughly mounted. The tank is 36x36x16 and they are 11”-12” above the tank.

Sorry, no filter with this pic, just wanted to record the setup for future tuning. The bars on the ends will be angled in when I actually mount them, so I would wager the numbers will be a little better.

I put two of them over my temp tank, which is a cadlights 125g. Just two lights cover the entire tank. When the two 3’ xho’s and the three 2’ OR2’s barely covered the tank and had some dark areas, but not with the Quantas.
The Orpheks suffer from poor blending and spread, but have some punch and xho’s have spread, but really poor par. That’s not the case with the Quanta bars, they simply rock! I wouldn’t hesitate to use them as my main source of light, especially with the spectrum options Luca offers. @Lousybreed these things rock!

+1 on the Quanta Pro bars. No disco effect, great spread, par, spectrum and price. Definitely a game changer in the led bar market.

Those Quanta's look good, wish I saw them before ordering the Orpheks but they probably don't ship to Africa

Ledusa. Cheaper version of orphek. The controllers aren't the best but adequate and affordable. 30 bucks.
