Will the genuine eco tech mount fit the A8?

No it will not. A8 uses slightly larger screws. You will have to bore out the mounts as I did to make it fit. The distance is the same between screws as Ecotech.

The post from Alibaba is misleading it says A8 but the seller told me it is really A8SE. Beware.

Just ask them for the A8 one and pay the $100 difference.

After you connect the wifi go to the 3 bars in the top right, click the magnifying glass and verify the light. Serial number etc should auto propagate and fill the blanks. Now good to go.

Well it’s setup with my iPad straight away with no problems, some reason the iPhone won’t connect from app to the light but connects to the Wi-Fi part of the light to link your light to network
so will try figure it out.
over all looks great if it wasn’t for the A8 sticker on the front probably couldn’t tell the difference between this light and a radion.
sadly the company said they would send the x mount but haven’t unless they send it in a separate package
go to order a radion rail mount see if it fits

Make sure to verify the light when using the app on iPhone. 3 bars top left after wifi is connected. Magnifying glass and verify. If serial number isn’t there after that then the light is not connected. This was one of the original issues with the English version of the app so I would switch to Chinese to verify then switch back to English. Once you know where things are both English and Chinese app becomes easy

Your par is much lower than my recordings. Which meter?

Just doing some basic par tests
every think set at 25% and light 15.5“ above water
water line 140 par and aprox 12” below 60par

I see 16” mounting height. Mine was Ecotech mount height at 8” above water line so likely similar

They rebrand products all the time. Sometimes components are different but main board is the same.

Never hear people complaining about their tv having Chinese parts, or Maytag, Kenmore, LG using same parts. I always order the cheap knock off parts when my appliances break. I would be more worried about my house burning down with a dishwasher or dryer than a power brick for a fish light. How many other items in your household use cheap power bricks or wall warts?

People will knock them because they aren’t $2000 a piece.

I got one A8se, just turned it on to test, will not use it for a while, but construction is solid and for the price the light looks amazing

I try to be on a budget, I mean if I want to have relations with my wife, I have to stay on a budget. But with lights, I rather pay more and not worry about anything. That's one part of my tanks that I never try to cut corners on. For the longest time I did try, and it ended up costing me in the long run. Besides, you never know where this hobby will take you, and this way you are set in that department. Besides, I really want as much control over my lights as possible. Another thing I won't mind spending money on is fish. I rather spend more on a reputable vendor than fight ich and other poop for months, or end up with sickly and weak fish.
