HEY ALL-- NITRATE UPDATE

I went to Dallas for Christmas so I did a little starve with the tank. The nitrates were down to a solid 25 before I left (using my salifert) and the fish only got pellets.

I haven't fed any coral food in about a week now, and I will thaw some mysis for the fish today.
I just got back a few minutes ago and tested immediately when i came back.

The nitrates are a solid 50.
So, I can tell it is definitely leveling off.
Going to feed clean mysis for the next few days and hold off on coral food until The nitrates are below 30 for a few days in a row.

My Miagi tort is looking burned on the tips a little :/ I hope he bounces back soon.
The birdsnest looks halfway decent. Not as bright green as usual, but also not bleached and the polyps are out.
The Walt Disney looks dull, but is fine. All LPS's are loving the tank. I noticed some signs of the start of ick on the tang's tail before I left, but it seems to not have progressed and may even be reversing.

I have to head to work in an hour, so I was going to cook lunch and head to it. I dont have time for a water change today, but I will first thing tomorrow.

I have a friend who dosed his tank with Vodka 1 night after dosing himself pretty heavily with the same. He crashed his tank killing everything. Said he only put in 2 caps but who knows. Myself, I dos regularly with Bourbon and Whiskey and from time to time have a crash but recover in just a few days. I have for some time been working on the perfect formula and quit enjoy the long term study I have placed myself in.

Same I just cant tell if its high or low of 25.
Just gonna ride it out for 2 more days to make sure it stays (or drops).

I keep wanting to do another water change. And I keep reminding myself to be patient. LOL

I've been either at school working on research or bartending every day since the new year. So i've neglected this page!

But everything is rolling with the tank.
Things still arent growing but nothing is dying/// going haywire as of right now.
We are just in a coasting phase

Nopox is basically a mix of things to carbon dose. You can test anytime, but may not see results right away.

Also, be sure to watch nutrients. Bottoming out is not good.

Also, what are you trying to bring down? No3 only?

And last thing, what is your po4?

I just did my first dose today. 10mL in a 90g with a 30g sump.

my nitrates have been stuck at 25-50ppm regardless of my 20 gallon water changes every 3 days for the last 2.5 weeks.
I don’t test for phosphate but last time when it was checked (with API) it was at 0.5 ppm which was 2 weeks ago.

my Walt Disney acro is about 70% bleached as of last week, I just woke up one day and it was about 50% gone and I think all the water changes are keeping the alk too high in combination with the high nitrates and it’s stressing my SPS. I was using instant ocean reef crystal but I just bought regular instant ocean from my LFS yesterday
