I know no one can say how much each coral uses and what the use of a mixed reef would be. But, I am wondering where it can all be going. Finally I am seeing growth, so I am not wanting to rock the boat and change up a bunch, but my dosing levels seem high.

Daily top off of ro/di of about 1/2-1 gallon. Daily dosing of vodka at 3.5 ml. Daily dosing of alk and cal at 20 ml, I use th two part BRS mix. Corals consist of one two head zoa, about 20 head paly, 4 head blasto, two small acan colonies...these are showing most signs of growth, one plug encrusted acro, and one tiny little mertensii anemone. Fish are two clowns, but also a peppermint shrimp.

Just checked alk and cal and alk is at 8.1 and cal is at 380. I use Red Sea salt (not the coral pro).

So I guess, do these levels even sound close to being right? Just seem high to me after a search and reading what others are dosing. I have no precipitation or calcium build up. Heck I don't even have that much coralline algae on the rocks.

Both coralline algae and abiotic precipitation of calcium carbonate can use quite a bit.

Even a soft coral tank can lose up to 2-3 dKH of alkalinity and 10-20 ppm of calcium per day.

How big is the tank?

Tank is a 40 breeder. There is no build up on anything.

I am wanting to add more corals, I will have to watch and see how they are used. Funny, I was shooting for dkh of around 9, I was worried I was to high.
