Hi,
I have a quick question for you. I had my LFS conduct water tests for me yesterday and I was told that my Alkalinity and Calcium were up. The Alk was 14 and that Calcium was 500 and I haven't dosed anything in the tank in months (6 months and longer), I didn't have any corals. That's another story. My question, Is it possible that I am introducing those elements into the tank by way of something else? I have been dosing NO POx daily, I have a bio pellet and Phosphate reactor running underneath. My salinity was super high yesterday 1.032, I have since done a water change to bring it back down. My refractometer isn't calibrated apparently. Is there a way to bring the numbers back down other than water changes?

Please share your thoughts.

Your 500 Calicum will drop to ~412 once you get the salinty correct.

+1 on this.

Your high readings are due to concentrating the Alk and Calc caused by too much salt in the water.

Thanks guys. I retested the salinity this morning, I am 1.028. I am going to pull more water out today to reduce the salinity to 1.025.
