So I just changed salts because the I wasnt happy with reef Crystal's so I switched to red sea blue bucket. However I notice my alk is now at 6.1 in my 10g and 6.9 in my 20g only about 3 days after my last water change.
I have been lazy because my alk has never been a problem but I recently added a ton more coral so my alk consumption jumped so I have no idea how much I should be dosing daily. I have seachem 2 part I can start dosing daily. I am still trying to learn how to use 2 part because my calcium is currently 448 in my 20g and 508 in my 10g but I understand I am supposed to dose calcium and alk 2 part in equal amounts even though my calcium is high.
My big question is, should I dose a small bit now to raise the alkalinity then monitor the usage daily for a week or should I not dose today and watch daily to get my daily consumption?

Just to make perameters easier to read
20g
6.9dkh
448 ppm calcium

10g
6.1 dkh
508 ppm calcium

One last question. Do I have to do 1:1 part a and b or is it a by demand type thing?

Just add the alk component and take it SLOW. Do not bring it up to fast. You should be able to find a calculator and dose accordingly. I would bring it up to your target value over the course of a few days. Test daily. Then when your CA comes down to target level start dosing to maintain. Hope this helps.

Awesome. I just added 3 ml and 5.6 ml for my 10g and 20g respectively to raise the alk approx .9 dkh which I would assume is a nice small jump. Weekly water changes will no longer cut it so I plan on doing daily manual doses until I find my sweet spot then I plan on getting some easy dosing pumps to do it for me.
