I currently use red sea alk buffer in the liquid form. Trying to figure out of the powder form makes more. Trying to get the bang for the buck. Anyone know of any pace to order alk buffer bulk?

Simple A&H Baking Soda will work fine. Add 1 1/8 cup to a gallon of RO/DI water(this may take some effort to get into solution), use this calculator, fill in the blanks for your system, select Randy's recipe #2 from the drop down menu to get your dose.
You can also make the baking soda into soda ash by taking 2 1/4 cups and spreading it out on a cookie sheet and baking it in an oven @ 400 degrees for 1 1/2 hours then add it to 1 gal of RO/DI water(much easier to get into solution), use the same calculator, and select Randy's recipe #1 from the drop down menu.
Or, you can buy them at BRS, either individually, or as a package of all three(Ca, Alk, and Mg).
You will see that recipe #1 is twice the strength of recipe #2, and will be dosed accordingly.

No, you will not "combine" them, you need to make each one into its own solution, dose them separately, and at different times so they don't combine with each other.

Thank you i was misunderstanding. I thought 2 part they were taking two different powders for alk itself. After talking to brs the gal told me one of the guys there have more color with red sea. I guess he tried using brs and colors went down. I did order the red sea powder from brs though since I'm s preferred reefer.

BRS 2-part. Use their calculator to figure amount then break that amount into 4s. Set your doing pumps to pump that much solution into your tank @6hr increments. This way your numbers will be more stable throughout the day.

I like this but want to do it with red sea. It seems that most people get more colors using red sea according to tee list at brs i talked to earlier.
