What's up oh wise ones .. as always as I am playing around and reading on here and learning (at times the hard way) , I am honored to be in the midst of saltwater genius! SOOO... I added some sps's to my 90 (metal halides/T5 lighting) and upon seeing them stressed I realized that I have not checked my water chemistry and soon realized that it was my water and LOW LOW ALK, calcium and Mag  ( I also do regular water changes every 1.5 months) I am now learning the hard way that this is ever so critical and I am in the process of bringing these levels back up. (I have only lost 1 sps) but a few of the others are beginning to look stressed. I am currently, at the suggestion of my LFS, supplementing some B-Ionic calcium buffer solution and I just started this, tested and the ALK has already risen slightly .. I am going to continue everyday and get things back to normal and also KEEP THEM that way, but my question is with this B-Ionic which I have heard and read great things about, I know this is a 2-part system that helps with the Calcium and Alkalinity, but should I also be doing something for the magnesium? Am I not understanding something or should I also be addressing this Magnesium with another additive? Thanks so much and look forward to any replies as I look to educate myself to the max with this!

Changing the water more frequently will also help replenish these numbers. I change 10% of my water weekly and then supplement if needed after that. I also test weekly to nip problems in the bud. Good luck!

Have you determined what your daily consumption of cal/alk/mag? 1.5 month water change for a sps dominated tank might be a problem. SPS generally thrive in a tank with good stable parameters.
