Alk dosing in salt mixing station

Hello All,
I use Tropic Marin Pro salt, and wanting to raise the dkh. I know that I could switch salt brands to get the desired dkh, but I really love how clean and consistent Tropic Marin is, and do not wish to change.

My goal is to get my dkh to 9 and calcium around 430 ppm. I have recently started adding SPS to my tank and paying closer attention to my parameters. My freshly made salt mix at 35-ppm, tests at 7.3 dkh (Hana checker) and my calcium is at 430. I do dose my display tank using b-ionic two part that keeps my dkh around 7.

My research suggests that I dosing my mixing container with BRS's Sodium Bicarbonate before water changes to slowly raise my dkh to the desire levels and then keep dosing the mixing container for future water changes. The thing that I cannot find any information on is, do I need to add equal parts of calcium? I don't need to raise my calcium, but didn't know if i needed at add/dose the same way that we do with two part dosing. Do you think that I am on the right track? Any suggestions?

You don't need to add calcium to the water unless you are wanting to raise calcium

Baking Soda will do the same thing - it is sodium bicarbonate too, food grade and cheap. You don't need to add calcium unless you want to raise it as well.

There are calculators on the web to tell you how much to add.

What you are suggesting is just what I am doing. With an LPS and softie tank all I need to dose is Alk. Currently using the BRS sodium bicarbonate, will look into the baking soda option.

I used the Alk calculator on brs to slowly raise the levels in the tank. Now I day dose Alk only and mix up the new salt water to 9.
