Hi guys, I have my doser set up to dose 36ml of alk daily over a 24hr period. I have this split into 24 x 1.5ml doses. Is this ok? Would people advise fo dose the majority during my photo period or does it not really matter?

Well it partly depends on what you want to keep, and if your noticing any issues at the moment. Some corals like acros can be a little more annoyed with alk swings than others.

I’ve found that dosing during the photoperiod does smooth out alkalinity drops during the day. I dose 2/3rds during lights on. I don’t know what your dosing, tanks size, etc, so 36ml could either be a lot or a little. It’ll mostly come down to alkalinity demand.

I’d suggest testing right before lights on, and then again in the evening just at lights out. With a heavily stocked tank you can easily see 1dkh+ drops in as little as 8 hours.

In my case i changed my Doser and trying replicate the dose i used before which was in a 12 hour period ALK and Calc and 24 hours Kalk. My PH ranged from 8.2 0 thru 8.60 and using Baking Soda Ash. To be honest i don{t have any side effects on my corals and acros on that PH swings.

Now i am trying the 24 hours for all 3. I am using Kalk to try to avoid the use less ALK - Calc as the shipping cost from BRS to PR is way to expensive for the Calcium and to see if i can stabilize the PH a little bit.

I do exactly the same as you.
I note that this way, any time I test my Alk, always 150ppm (8.5dkh).
I want that type of stability in all parameters.
When I look at PH, it remains basically unchanged throughout the day.

I find dosing more during the day keeps it much more consistent, spread over 24 hours works well also
