my alk is 16.5
my ph is 8.0 (on average)
my calcium is at 440
this does not make any sence to me on how my ph is under 8 and my alk is this high, this was tested with a sailifert kit. a few other kits that i used were up around 20+. this is going to drive me nuts! does anyone have any sugestions?

What are you dosing? It sounds like you have tried a number of different test. I would maybe run a water sample to your lfs and have them test it out for you.

i took some water up there last night. he used two different test kits and one said 20+ and the sailifert was where i came up with the 16.5 i am more likely to believe the sailifert test. but even then, that still dont make sence to me. i havent been dosing anything for the last 4 days, i was trying to use up the rest of some kent a & b and then was going to change to a 2 part solution from brs.

when was the last time you calibrated the meter. maybe the pH is reading wrong if the alk is that high.

i do not see any effects of burning on the corals. as a matter a-fact most everything is looking pretty good. i clean the probe monthly and it hasn't been to long since it was calibrated. but i can re-calibrate it. i will try anything once.

Well, you obviously went overboard with the alkalinity dosing from the 2 part, even if it has been 4 days... Just let it fall naturally, 16.5 isn't really a big deal. As for the PH, boost your alkalinity all you like, if you have too much CO2 in your tank your PH will still be a little low. Vigorously aerate some water outside and then test the PH, if it rises that's your problem.
