I've been trying to dial in my alk dosers. At 7pm yesterday I tested 8.64. As of this writing (3pm) it's at 8 even. Am I safe to assume that in a 24 hour period the tank would consume 1.92? Am I safe to break out 1.92 over a 24 hour period with my doser and keep the levels steady or do tanks not consume alk consistently throughout all times of the day? Right now I dose once an hour starting at 9pm when the lights go off to 11 am when the lights come on. I can keep a night time dosing period only for pH concerns but I'm thinking it will be so small of dosing levels broke out over 24 hours that it won't affect pH too much.

According to my math (estimated 25 gallons in the tank after rocks accounted for) I need to dose 34.2 mL a day. Call it 34 and I get 1 minute 16 seconds each hour for the dosers. (1.1 mL/min)

About 2 months ago I thought I had them dialed in but found that my alk crept up pretty high. (My testing habits clearly need to improve). When I dialed them in then, I did the test at the same time every 24 hours and adjust the dosers from there. I'd like to avoid doing that as it took a solid week or two to get it where I thought it was good and even then I was still wrong.

Dosers are controlled by an apex jr.

Can someone tell me if my math seems correct?

I just realized I calculated my hours wrong. Will adjust to see if new math is right. Still looking for a check though.

Ok so I get .77 consumed in 24 hours. Idk why I thought 7pm to 3 pm was 8 hours?! So now I think math shows 13.7 ml/day of 2-part needed so .57/hr so 31 seconds each hour should do keep it steady?

Sounds right.
But..... Taking the time to test over a longer period will give you a true-er answer.

Here's the code I have set.

Totally. I'll continue to test to see if what I come up with stays steady. I'm just trying to get close since I never have done a 24 hr dose period. If I get close then I should be able to test at any point in the day and it should be pretty close to where it's set.

Well... one day in and I've tested at different times of the day and it's staying right at 8.5. So far the math is good
