Alk overdosed

So I was adjusting my Alk on my doser and dumped some in by accident .

Dkh jumped from 9.5 to 10.8...

Everything is doing fine ... only happened 30 mins ago.

My tank consumes .6 dkh a day.

This all happened after a water change. Should I do another wc to lower the Alk or let it fall back to range on its own in a few days?

I'd let it fall back on its own after a few days personally.

Swinging the alk back to your norm so fast could do as much harm as good. But whos to say.

Okay. This is just what I would do. The jump you experienced isn't catastrophic in my opinion. If you have saltwater mixed up already, you can do a water change to bring it down some. If not, I would turn off the alk doser until it comes down to where you want it by itself. I would try to avoid another rapid swing in the other direction.

I would just leave it that's not to bad to be honest. as far as I understand a 1 dkh jump/ increase is safe and expectable. my acropora frag usually does not mind when I dose alk that way.

Thanks guys! I was worried as heck . Got a vacation coming up next week and trying to get everything calibrated for 1 week trip.

As usual something always goes wrong during times like this lol

one week is not bad. all should be fine maybe do a water change a day or two before it starts. hope you have a nice vacation! =]

I would tell you not to sweat it, but there's really no point. You're going to worry anyway. Take my word for it.

On a positive note I have hit an all time high on PH 8.4 ... usually hovers around 8.2

glad i didn't do anything drastic. retested this morning and got 10.1. Photo period doesn't begin until 2pm so i'm guessing it will be right around where it should be by tonight.
