I am having a discussion with my daughter and I need a second opinion. I was ranting and worried yesterday due to my alk dropping from 8.57 to 8.29. She is of the opion that I am over reacting because I am using a digital checker. She says if I were using a test kit they would come out about the same. What do you guys think?

You're definitely overreacting-lol. Swinging within normal range is nothing to be concerned about. Now if it falls below what is acceptable and stays there, then worry. Same goes for raises above what is acceptable.

My tank is a 150 gallon mostly sps. I have been trying to dial in a calcium reactor over the last 2 months. That drop occurred from 7/7 to 7/17.

Ok thanks I will adjust my regulator slightly. I have one of the aquarium plants regulators.
Thanks Ken
