Hey guys so I recently swapped my 13.5 gallon tank into a 50. I mixed the water in a 50 gallon brute the transfered it into my tank. Specific gravity somehow lowered during the swap probably because I was getting the water level right and had the ato on. Anyway it’s at 1.024 not bad at all and I’m currently slowly correcting it. Anyway I noticed my alk was at 7.4 I usually shoot for 8. So I dosed some liquid baking soda same regimen as I used on the old tank. Brought the alk up to 8 over a day. The next day I tested and back down it 7.4 it went. I wouldn’t expect the tank to be using this much alk as this is what my 13.5 was using daily. So I tested again and the result was the same. I dosed again back up to 8 then tonight I checked it again...back down to 7.3. Is it time to turn on the doser and watch my alk over the next few days? I wouldn’t expect this much usage yet. I won’t turn it on at full dosage as I’m going to be using kalk and I want to ease into it. Thought?

Kalk will be on a doser if that makes a difference to your answer it will be very controlled using the apex to control ph if need be

I did some more research via the search functions seems as tho I could be cause it to precipitate out into rocks and such I’ll hold off trying to chase the numbers for now. Livestock is happy for now so I’ll just keep watching unless something changes
