Just noticed that my alkalinity solution (ESV B-ionic) has developed a tint. Has this ever happened to anyone, should I be concerned?

I'm using food-grade silicone tubing, and I've been dosing for over a month.

Please help!!! Feeling nervous.

My calcium in normally that slight brown colour even after filtering (i think due to the heat it gives off on mixing) and alk is normally clear even after a month or 2..... are you sure you filled up the correct pots with the correct additives or miss placed the labels? :/

I recall dumping the correct solution into the correct compartments last time I refilled. I won't even remove the plastic wrapping from the cap of the bottle of another solution until the one in hand has been dumped in its proper bin to protect myself and the inhabitants.

i'm sure it's fine, just some contamination, maybe precipitation if used a tool/syringe/etc one compartment and then the other.

You can always draw the alk out and re-filter it with kitchen paper/ coffee filter.

Good thing is that I don't see any stress in any of the corals.
I think your fine but have you contacted ESV to make sure this normal?

Contacting them hasn't even crossed my mind. First thing I did was come of the forums to all of you helpful and knowledgeable folks. I'll give them a call to be sure.

I use ESV 2 part and never had this happen. Are you sure something didn't somehow back siphon into the dosing line?

No I'm not sure but the dosing lines sit 3 inches above the water line in the sump with the pumps off.

Is your dosing pumps above the water line?

I have the DOS pumps and Apex says those pumps need to be above the water line to prevent back flow after the pumps turn off.

Yes my doser sits approximately 22 inches from the water line.

I personally wouldn't be overly concerned.

Was this from a concentrate that you added some water to for dilution? What sort of water? Even a little iron in it might give some color.

could it be siphoning water from sump? Can you keep the tube above water?
