Alk spike / burnt tips

Alk spiked to 10.2 , working on why but tips of stylophora kinda burnt, did a water change right away alk came down a little 9.8 question .. how many water changes should I do, I know there’s not much I can do, no Muriatic acid Thanks, I turned off dosing pump. Just wondering when to do a water change, daily? Every other day ?... thanks

Assuming you tank is decent size, I’d do small water changes over the next couple of days. Could even do several day as long as they are small until Alk comes down to 8-9.

Tank is a 90 would 10 gal a day be good ?

My 135 is normally at 7-8 alk when i do a 50% water change monthky it spikes to 12. Ive never seen it affecting my 15 acros or my honeymellon sized pocillipora

Yes, I’d break it up though. 2 x 5 gals or 3 x4 gals. Done through the day. This way you are gradually swapping out the water vs. all at once. What caused the spike in Alk? You sure that caused the tips to bleach? What was your Alk? 10.2 isn’t horrendous but In guessing your Alk was considerably lower.

Omly time i see sps tips do that is when magnesium or some other macro nutrient is low that we dont normally test for for potassium or iodine or strontium. I havent figured out what it is in my tank but a water change to replenish it fixes it. But i have seen low magnesium do it many times
