Does cold weather have an effect on test kits. Alk. I left my tests kits outside last night and tested my alk this morning and it was 4.3 with salifert. A few days ago it was 8.9. Does anyone know? It was 44 degrees

I'm not positive whether the kit would be affected. Did you use the kit while it was still cold from being outside? Or did it "warm" back up? If it was still cold maybe try to test again after it's warms up and see what reading you get. I know this doesn't totally answer you question but I hope it jelps

josh,

I wouldn't think 44 degrees would affect it that much..

i did try to find some stuff on the Web, hard to find btw, but all says extreme heat 85+ degrees or higher on some reagents could be affected..

if you take the box inside and let it warm to room temp and re-take the test, do you get a different reading?

I would try to find a customer service number for Salifert and give them a call

I tested a few hours after and it tested 7.9. That freaked me out even though everything looked ok. I almost started alk.

hmmm..weird...would be nice to see what salifert customer service says.

Something to think about!

This is what happens when we have a cold front in Miami! Lol
