Hi. Any ideas what's sucking the ALK out of my 200gal. Been up for 6 months only have 5 smaller corals 8 fish. I find myself having to dose 8oz /day of 2 part to maintain 8.2-8.5 DKH. Mag is 1400 Cal is 440. PH 8.1-8.2.
Any thoughts ? No Coraline Algae yet so who or what is using the ALK?!

Assuming that two part is similar to my recipe #1, then that's about 1.7 dKH per day. That's not a huge amount and does happen in soft coral tanks, although typically with coralline.

Other organisms also deposit calcium carbonate, such as vermitid snails. You may also have more than the usual abiotic precipitation of calcium carbonate.

How are you dosing? There is a brs video showing by adding to fast you can actually lower your alk

Randy,
Hi ! I did dose just the calcium part of your 2 part recipe a while back before I realized that would drop my ALK. I've done 2 30gal water changes since . Do u think it's possible that there is still way to much Cal Cloride in the system ? How should I correct this? Should I just not worry about my ALK for about 3 months and just continue with my water change schedule ?
Everything looks real healthy.
Thanks
