Hi, I use ATI Essentials+ and I recently discovered that the bottom of my dosing container was rock solid with the alkalinity solution & blocking the outlet pipe. I think it might be related to the recent cold spell here in the UK but was wondering if there is any secret to keeping the alk solution liquid & preventing it from crystalizing?

Many alk solutions are close to their solubility limit, and if they get cold, can precipitate sodium bicarbonate and/or sodium carbonate.

You can warm it to redissolve it, or dilute it with RO/DI, especially if kept in a cool place, or both.

Thanks Randy. Tried warming it but it's still very crystalline. Will adding RO/DI help in that case?

Assuming it was correctly made, it will dissolve with enough warming and stirring, but may take time. Adding RO/DI is mostly to ensure it doesn't happen again, but will help redissolve it too.

How big is the container? Could it be placed into a pot that has water heated to boiling and then set aside to add the container?

I'll persevere with the stirring and warming! It's one of these TMC triple dosing units so I could stand it in a tub of hot water to see if that helps. I didn't realise that adding RO/DI would help prevent this so will maybe make a 50/50 RO/DI & Alk mix in future and double the dose
