Is alkalinity consumption consistent throughout a 24 hour period or is it predominantly during photosynthesis? Should I divide the dose throughout the photo Or the 24 hour period?

Most Alk consumption happens during the photo period. Dosing Alk at night helps keep pH up during non-photosynthesis

I think the answer comes down mostly to personal preference/equipment costs/available time etc.
For consistency/no swings, I dose Alk and Ca 12 times/day 1 hr apart

It seems to happen more during the day, and that's when I would dose unless the nightly pH low is very low (below pH 7.8).

IMO, the reason is not fully clear.

Is it directly due to photosynthesis, or due to the higher pH? Or both?

I used to dose all throughout the 24 hour day. But i started dosing limewater at night only after lights are off. Ph is now 8.1 at night and 8.3 max daily. Loving it.
