Alkalinity help!!

maybe worth double checking salinity and temp and magnesium.... if salinity goes up, or temp goes down, elements in water column will increase, but I would expect Calcium to increase too..... o_O

I think there is also a phenomenon where if you dose just Ca, Alk goes down and vise versa..... I know in my tank, so you Ca going down is causing the Alk to increase..... I have to dose both to keep balanced, even if one is consumed.

My brother that is also a reefer suggested to do a 5 gallon water change but by taking out 5 gallons of tank water and diluting the water with RO to see if the ALK drops.

One other question, I know you said that you have been using the product for some time, the product that you are doing now, is it new?

OK, I've put on my thinking cap....let me see if anything else pops into the old noggin.

No, the product is not new. It may be a Florida thing but it has been around for quite sometime. You can order it online. It has all of the trace elements mixed in already.

What I meant was is the current batch of product the you are using right now resently purchased?

I will let everyone sleep on it. Im hoping that it doesnt climb up again tomorrow into the 9dkh range. Its not terrible but its higher than what the water mixes at.

Oh yes. I actually won 2 big 1 gallon containers of the Oceans Blend at an LFS nearby during a Halloween party/sale.

Hmm, wanna see what happens here. Alkalinity should not be rising just out of the blue, or it should not really ever rise. Calcium drops by 5 ppm with dosing/WC's or no dosing or WC's?

My thinking is that there is something wrong with the current batch that is being used.

I usually do my water changes on Sundays but decided this week to skip a week to see if the tank could go for 2 weeks without water changes.

I switched from Aquaforest regular to Fritz a little over a month ago and everything has been gravy. Until now.
