I have been checking my alkalinity with a Hanna checker and my alkalinity has actually been going up without adding any two part do you know what could be causing this? The levels will start off around 8.6 then over a weeks time move up in to mid 9's. Let me know if there is any other information needed.

hanna probe? whens the last time it was calibrated and what did it read in cal solution before calibrating it?
have you tried the titration?

Check your battery and order the calibration set.

Check alkalinity with another test kit as well.

I've used mine for several months with spot on performance and suddenly things went haywire. I ordered the calibration kit from BRS and showed my results were way off. The first suggestion was to change the battery and the second was to check the date on the titration bottle itself. Both were maligned. Once I did a battery swap and replaced the titration the device began giving me accuracy when checking with the standards.

You're more than welcome. Happy you're with the group! [emoji6][emoji1604]

Alk can increase from uncured artificial rock, nitrate levels decreasing substantially due to consumption, additives that contain it without your knowledge, or topping off with water that contains it, such as tap water.
