Ok so on Monday after my water change all was 9.6 today like 8.9. Is it normal to drop that much on 3days?

I have a large chalice, hammer, a Cyphastrea, and a bunch of zoas.

I don’t know what my calcium was on Monday (didn’t check) but it usually (prior to chalice) ran around 500+

My tank is fairly well stocked with sps frags and small lps colonies and i loose 0.7dkh daily.

I recently found myself in a waist-deep ALK problem.

I've always relied on weekly water changes to replenish elements. One day, I had a coral that suffered RTN, overnight.

And I discovered that my ALK and CA numbers had bottomed out. Suddenly I found myself having to supplement. My coral frags grew about twenty fold, so my consumption went up. That may be what is going on with your system.

So I would call a .7 drop in ALK over 3 days normal.

I would also suggest testing your ALK right before the water change and again 12 hours after the water change. This will allow you to calculate your weekly consumption rate. From there you can decide if you need to supplement and if so, how much.

I’ll make sure yo test both calcium and alkalinity this weekend before and after
