hello. i was wondering what exactly is considered a truly “stable” alk level. is a stable alk level when you test alk at any given time of day and it measures the same dkh no matter when or is a stable alk level considered to be stable when you measure alk at the same time of the day and it measures the same dkh at the same time every day?

Can i answer both? I consider stable alk when it is about the same if measure at the same time everyday.

Ideally i would love to have it stable through the whole day and dose at just the right time to keep it perfect. That is not realistic unless you have something like kh director(or similar automated testers/dosers). Eventually i will get one though.

Having said that though i also try to add more stability to my PH and also keep it higher. Because of this i focus my alk dosing more overnight through early afternoon so my alk is probably highest in the morning hours. It helps to keep my ph in a tighter day/night range though.

So neither my alk or PH end up perfectly stable, but it is a fairly small range for both.

makes sense! i just got my alk doser after getting tired of dosing more and more every week/month. i figured spreading the doses through out the day would be better than having it dose everything at once like you would manually yet i wasn’t sure if there was truly an advantage due to my lack of knowledge. was just wondering if i had been doing it the right/best way all along since that’s what i understood from research - thanks!
