It's been a while since I last tested Alk.
I only have but a pair of clown fish, a few snails, GSP and toadstool.
Could it drop this low or could the reagent have gone bad?

Can you test some freshly made saltwater to verify?

Same test on freshly made saltwater came out to 8.4 which is expected for Fritz salt I am using.

Well unfortunately you verified your first test, I'd say it's safe to assume it's around that low value then.

I'd test again and if you can with another brand alk test to be more sure.

Increasing nitrate will deplete alk in a tank with just fish.
