Alkalinity too High

Help: Alk is 437 ppm, Calcium is 413. Everything looks OK. SHould I be worried about the Alk?

I don't know, all I add is Kalkwasser and Dose Vitamin C. I started doing recently is started adding Calcium only from 2 part because Clacium was 380. I would imagine that should not raise Alk. My Calcium is at 413. Besides water change is there anything else i could do to bring Alk down?

Test your magnesium. My (limited) knowledge would say that unless Mg is in check the other two might not test accurate.

ALK can be taken down using muriatic acid, slowly, as it affects the PH big time.

That's crazy high! Double check your test and have someone else test it too if you can. You'd likely be getting serious calcium precipitation if it's really that high. What test kit are you using? My hanna doesn't even read that high.

If it is that high I'd stop dosing everything for now and do some large water changes to at least get it down to 11 dkh (200ppm or less).

you say add kalkwasser. How do you use the kalkwasser?

I use a Two little fishies Kalk Stirrer plumbed into a Tunze 3155.

Stop using the kalkwasser since it adds alkalinity.

Buffered vitamin C also adds alkalinity.
