Alkalinity too high!!!!

Just tossing my two cents.

I use Coral Pro Red Sea salt mix and after a water change my alk is around 170 ppm. I have about 20 coral and of those about 15 are stoney. When I was doing my initial testing tp figure out my dosing regiment, the alkalinity dropped to around 150 ppm over 7 days.

Since my salt mixes up at 170 ppm, I dose alk daily to keep it around that number so that a water change doesn't shock my coral, especially my SPS coral.

Stability is more important than chasing a specific number as many have said before.

Ok, ill just check to see if it goes down.. corals look happy so it should be okay i guess ha

Test alk.
Test ca.
Test mg.

Choose any number between 3-10.
Convert chosen number into days.

After chosen days are passed, test again.

Subtract last day value from first day value, then divide with chosen number.

That is your daily consumption.

Use calculator to see how many of what u need to dose to suplement daily consumption.

Dose first, aka "correction dose". Test again. Values should be exact as intended. For example, if your ca was 400, u want 450, after dosing per calculator, ca should be exactly 450.

Then, dose daily per calculator amount, choose another number and repeat above procedure - after x days, test again. If you dosing correctly, your levels should be identical as after correction dose.

Follow rules regarding how much of what u can raise in one step.....

Dont dose anything using instructions from bottle label. Above is only way to mantain desired levels, at least only that i know of....
