Anyone know why my alk continues to trend upward? I do not dose at all. I have a few mini colonies of SPS and some frags. The first point is Sunday when the trident was installed. Last point is today. Any ideas?

That value is low, and various things might boost it slightly. Declining nitrate is one, nitrate dosing is another, and top off with tap water can do it. So can slow dissolution of calcium carbonate sand.

Thank you for the response Randy. I do dose nitrate since my system is testing 0. I am going to dose go get the kH to 7, but with the upward trend I will not need to dose.

You're welcome.

Adding 50 ppm of nitrate by dosing will boost alk by 2.3 dKH once it is consumed.
