Hey Randy,
About a week and a half ago, I took my doser offline to do maintenance. I forgot to restore my alkalinity dosing pump to operation. Fast forward to this past Monday, I tested my water and saw that my alkalinity had reached 5.42dkH. I tested again 3 times and the numbers were low. I thought my hanna checker was faulty and was about to call Hanna instruments till I decided to mix some fresh saltwater and test it. It was at 10.3dkH (Red Sea Coral Pro). So I have since slowly started raising my alkalinity back to 9dkH. The strange thing is that none of my sps died during the low alkalinity and were still growing. Some of the frags that were freshly cut last Thursday have started encrusting on the glue and the cuts on the colony started to grow tissue over the cuts. The only negatives is that algae started to grow but it wasn't green but bleached looking which could be another reason other than alkalinity and one of my blasto colonies has now deflated and semi-closing starting when I reached 6.6dkH. Is this normal?
