Question, if an sps reacts bad to going from 8dkh to 11dkh in 1 day, would you lower the alkalinity to save the coral? True story
 
Sps really don't like parameter fluctuations , each species is different and can tolerate situations differently, but I'd assure you that your sps don't appreciate a bounce up and down , stability is key :)
 
The bouncing back down may do more harm than good in this case. Curious, but was the jump from 8 to 11 intentional?
 
I just went from 7 to 9.8 by accident myself. I dosed wrong apparently. My SPS look fine for now. I dosed some calcium and mag that I needed this morning and I'm just gonna ride it out. I want my alk that high but just not that fast. Just keep a close eye on em I'd say and avoid another quick swing.
