Has anyone had problems getting there alk level up? All my other parameters are good but my alk level is low. I have been adding buffers but it seems as though it is not coming up. Any ideas?

Throw a tablespoon of Baking Soda in there, watch how fast it comes up.

What? Thats what I use to raise my ALk up. You see a problem with a Randal Homels-Farley diy concoction? It will raise it fast and raise it huge. Ya gotta watch how much you put in there.

.
Baking SodaTo raise 50 gallons of tank water by 1 meq/L will require about 16 grams of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate; sodium hydrogencarbonate). Since a level teaspoon of baking soda weighs just under 6 grams, then 1 teaspoon will raise the alkalinity in that 50 gallons by ~0.4 meq/L (~1 dKH).
