Just wondering at what level do most reefer like to keep Alk for SPS at and why? Also, how do they maintain it and what they us?

Sps love high mag, especially acros. As long as you have that they around 1450+ will grow like crazy, of course while maintaining reasonable alk and calc levels, 8-12 and 420-500

i kept my alk at 9 when i had sps it seemed to give me the safest inbetween if fluctiuation ever occured at a fast rate when i wasnt home.

I dose Tropic Marin Bio Calcium which does a good job keeping both my Ca and Alk stable. I've been stable at around 500 ppm Ca and an Alkalinity of about 9 dkh since I started using the stuff 3 years ago.

BRS for me. I used to use arm and hammer, but someone gave me a large tub of the BRS so why not!?

i used to use the brs stuff for magnesium and calcium on my sps tank which would go through alot in a day so i would have to make 5 gallon jugs- going to have to start using it again on my zoa tank for some reason the reefcode a and b dont seem to be working very well and the other routes cheaper

How stable it is is more important than where it is. As long as you can get it in a reasonable range, keeping it steady will determine the best growth and color of your corals. I use a calcium reactor because it is constantly dosing small amounts to keep my alk and ca stable.

2 Part BRS for me, but will upgrade when I run out of the 2 part to a calcium reactor. Most TOTM winners kept their SPS tanks at an average of 8.5 Alk, for what that is worth.

Disel what size tank and how much do you dose?

202 gallon, ALK dosing 12ml every full hour on 24 hr schedule, CAL 8ml 20 min after the alk for every hr on a 24 schedule, MAG 5ml every two hrs on a 24 schedule.
Of course it depends on your uptake by your corals, you got a lot of stony sticks or...........
I have about 90% SPS with the rest some hammers and Acans.
Test you usage for the ALK,CAL and MAG on a four day schedule and than use the BRS calculator on their website.
With a little bit of tweaking you should have it under control within about a week or so.
Key is here................TESTING.................a lot of TESTING!!

Using BRS dosers "Drew's Doser" attached and programmed by my Apex. 3mins every 4 hours keeps my alk at a steady 9.3 and Calc at 420. Testing mag dosage now.
