Fwiw I'd vote for black sailfin blenny. Blennies are fun fish to have and that one looks nice

Not a little guy... but if you've got the room and funds a black tang.

Mine's extremelt docile, peaceful and only grazes on algae and pellets.

What size is the tank?
This will show what fish you can go for and what may be available. For example if it was a 50g, Macropharyngodon negrosensis is a mostly black leopard when female. If it was a 180+ then Zebrasoma rostratum and it’s hybrid are good species’ to go for.

the species in the photos are what appear to actually be Gobiodon acicularis (Atleast the top one is G. acicularis).
In my Gobiidae thread I have a few photos of different species. I believe I have a differentiation between the blacks or Strangulatus and some others (I could be wrong - If I am then I can make something on identifying them).

My clingfish (certainly black) is a voracious feeder. It is lots of fun, though, and doesn't hide nearly as much as I thought it would.

Do you have a black back wall? If so, be aware that certain fish will disappear against the backdrop even if they're not completely black. This is true for both my lyretail damsels (surprisingly well-behaved) and my springeri dottybacks (ditto). I often find it quite difficult to find them in the tank, even with the pops of colour (yellow for the damsels; electric blue for the dottybacks) on the their bodies.

In that case, many of the large pitch black fish are out (Z. rostratum, Z. scopas hybrid ect). If you don’t have a Foxface already you could get away with a Siganus niger however the width of the tank isn’t ideal for many of the larger fish.

It’s iffy with this, some have it work every time with just plop and drop and others have it work every time with 48-72 hours of acclimation. Some have had one work but not the other. It’s really just 50/50 on what will work for you.

I did all 4 of mine over 8-9 hours of drip and heater in a bucket. With occasional pour in for air exchange. The 3 smallest ones are the ones that passed. It seemed the biggest adult male with the bigger fins is the one who survived.

I much more enjoy my tang then the flameback. So does my son lol, the tang is an eye puller for everyone who comes in
