Is it feasible? I'm tending towards yes. But I need some thoughts on stocking ideas.

At first, before I made this decision, I was thinking a group of Anthias as my 'showpiece stunners' if that makes sense. But I'd rather have horrible looking captive breds than beautiful wild caught fish.

My tank is high-light, high-flow.

And the only 'set in stone' fish are a pair of A. nigripes (Blackfoot Clowns) They're captive bred, and coming to me next week (squeeee!)

Tank size: 125 gallons
Eventual wants: sps/lps. Few species, grow things out to large sizes! Oh, and clams. (While these aren't tank bred, they're a want for me, so this would be the exception) and BTAs (tank splits)

Anyway, I'm looking through various pages of what's being captive bred nowadays. But, without that nice harem of Anthias, I kinda feel like I'm going to be missing out. So my stocking list is kinda looking like this at the moment:

2 A. nigripes (m/f pair)
2 Pterapogon kauderni (m/f pair) (Banggai Cardinalfish)
2 (or more?) Elacatinus oceanops (neon gobies)

Now the question is.. I would love a harem of... something. I would totally do seahorses again, but.. the tank isn't being set up for them, so... they're out. (Too much flow, too many predators)

My next thought are some sort of Assessor sp. There's a few that ORA are producing, and while they're shyer I figure they'd be a fun addition to the tank. They'd be my pop of color, and my 'harem' even if they don't group together as much as Anthias tend to. I'd love to get a group of 5.

And, I was reading an article (Danger, danger!) about the recently tank bred scooter dragonets. They wouldn't be too horrible, and I don't think I have many other pod eaters.

The only issue I see is that I would like to have an algae control fish. A tang (yellows are being bred now! But tbh, I would prefer a kole) or a rabbitfish. And that would ruin my captive bred tank!

You could easily do a 100% captive bred tank. Everyday there are more and more species being successfully bred. Regarding algae control, you could always rely on inverts such as snails, crabs, urchins, etc.

I refuse to keep an urchin! I hate those buggers. lol. Snails it is. I did have a limpet once, he was so neat and ate algae like a boss. Thanks for reminding me of him.

I think I'd like to add a pair of yellow watchmen gobies to that list, Cryptocentrus cinctus, if I can find a pair that's captive bred. Seems like they may be harder to find, but worth the wait. Or, there's some guys raising Yashas right now, Stonogobiops yasha, which I would much prefer over ywg.

All of the fish in my tank are captive bred. I have one banggai Cardinal, one orchid dottyback and a pair of ocellaris clowns(not designer). All of the corals I have were aquacultured. The snails, hermits and urchin are wild collected though.

For algae control I would recommend a Blenny. I think lawnmower blennies have been captive bred. Also clams are usually aquaculture and if not they are maricultured. No completely wild clams are in this hobby.
