Currently setting up 210g. I'd really like to buy nothing wild, if possible. Getting live rock and sand from Craigslist tanks that are being torn down. I don't love LiveAquaria, but they've got a few supposedly captive bred non-amphiprion.

I guess I'm looking for advice on where to buy livestock, since the only LFS is an all FW Petco. Somewhere/Someone that is breeding responsibly (diverse genes, no inbreeding, no hybrids, etc.) I'd also be interested in any news on the captive breeding front.

For those wondering, my opposition to wild-caught is that it's still not being done with ecosystem health in mind. Too many casualties.

I have stocked my 90g with only captive bred stock, common clowns, banggai, green mandarin, coral beauty and I have a flame angel fattening up in qt. Mandarin and coral beauty are from Biota Palau, Flame angel from Pacific Planktonics via Quality Marine (and then TMC here in the UK). Live aquaria divers den have the Biota stock for sale from time to time.
I used caribsea life rock, seeded with some real reef from the sump at the LFS, all my corals are captive bred but we can't get any captive bred CUC in the UK so mine are all wild caught, I believe IPSF provides captive CUC to the US market though if you are keen to go 100% captive bred

That sounds amazing! Pictures? Also, feel silly asking, but what is CUC?

Anybody else out there with captive breeding info?

Awesome. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who's looking for captive bred livestock. I haven't found much in the way of CUC that is captive bred but Algae Barn has captive bred Ceriths and Trochus snails. If you're going bare bottom you may be able to get away with just those two species. I don't know of any sand stirring CUC (although some sand dwelling gobies are available).

I have a lot of captive bred fish but I supplemented with a few wild caught fish from Florida (I know the rules are tight there so hopefully it's sustainable). Check out KP Aquatics. They also have some inverts.

Good luck!

BRS had a Clown Harem tank with ~28 captive bred black snowflake clowns from Sustainable Aquatics. I love this tank more than life itself.

Haha well one day I hope it will be but at the moment its very much a work in progress I have just pulled all my fish out to a hospital tank for flukes! Gave me chance to have a good re-arrange of the scape though and means I can introduce my tiny flame angel before I put the coral beuaty back so silver linings! I'll try to remeber to take a pic once everything is back to normal.
