I’ve had a pretty bad algae problem in my tank for about 5 months and during this time my corals have been closed up and I’m not sure but I think they are all dead now my parameters and temp are fine and my clownfish snail and hermits are fine it’s just corals
I’ve had to do a pretty big weekly clean (I’ve not changed anymore water than about 10-20%) just to try and keep the algae at bay but I bought a suction cleaner yesterday and sucked up all the algae so now I can seenn be into the tank and see my corals properly and they really don’t look to good ( I think they might be dead) do you think it was all of the algae that got to them ? Would it be safe to get some GSP and mushroom coral when I get more CUC today ?
I’ve added some pics of the corals when they were open and healthy and now and a picture of my cleaner tank today

i wasn’t able to remove all algae yesterday as the suction cleaner sucks out water and I didn’t want to change out to much water at once. I did about 30-50% yesterday could I do more today ?

Duncan and acan look OK. Maybe turn lights up a bit. What kind of filtration are you using?

Is the water level low from evaporation? If so your salinity is likely really high
No it’s from cleaning yesterday my extra saltwater was freezing so I’ve left it in a warmer room overnight to add the extra today so the tank temp doesn’t drop to much

This is another question I had but not sure if this is the right thread my app for the Maxspect jump light has just randomly deleted my light from the system and I can’t get it to connect again
Atm it’s on 1600 and on 10hr a day them goes on a very low dark blue at night it fades between the two at the set times
I have the filter on the left with ceramic disc type things ( I think it’s called biological filtration) and I have a power head on the right on the tank for some more flow

Hi, is this a freshwater tank and filtration you,re try ing to use for marine coral and fish?
It was a second hand freshwater tank the filtration was for saltwater

Do you know, what your nitrate, phosphate, alkalinity, and salinity measure, these are all important parameters needed by the community to help you with best advise. It would be helpful if your photos were under just white light

Yes I am currently reconfiguring my light so that I can change the colouring, strength E.g. and I will test my parameters again as I can’t remember the exact numbers from yesterday

You say my Duncan and Acan are ok what can I do to help them open up ? I’ve turned up my lights to 2,000

Is your water change water at the same temperature as your tank when you put it in? If not you could be causing salinity swings because salinity changes with temperature. Normally you bring it up to temp then verify the salinity of your new water is the same as your tank water before adding it. I agree with the others you need to post your parameters. Your corals look like they are still alive but are upset as seen by the lack of polyp extension. Also, pictures under white light would be better to determine their health.

Sorry for the delay everyone I had family visit last weekend and completely forgot to post the parameters. I’ve tested again today and these are the results
PH:8.3
Nitrate:0ppm
Nitrite:0ppm
Ammonia:slightly above 0ppm but I tested right before I did a water change
Whilst I was cleaning today I thought my Duncan had a little algae on it and Whilst trying to clean it off I’ve accidentally pulled it off it’s plug rock and i can’t find it :( so now it’s just the maybe dead GSP and the Acan.
I took some pictures in as white of a light I could get and I’ve turned my lights to the 20000 setting in hope of my corals doing better
I also had a fan worm show up today that’s pretty cool

I thought I saw dinos in the pics

How about calcium, magnesium, alkalinity, and phosphates?
My lfs tested that last week for me as I don’t have test kits for those yet but they didn’t tell me the exact perameters they just said everything was fine

SG does not change with temp.
That "fan worm" I think you are seeing is an aptaisia. A very bad pest that needs to get out now. Don't squish it or it will multiply 10 fold.

Do you run activative carbon? Could be something in the water.

You do need more tests we are asking for.

I’ve removed the aptasia I’ve read about that and I really don’t want that in my tank. No I don’t run carbon
Do you need the exact results from the tests ?I can get those from my lfs tomorrow
