Hello, I been dosing all for reef in my nano 25gal for about a month now. I’m up to 30ml a day broken in between 3 times a day. I can not get a reading on alkalinity at all. Any suggestions?

what test kit are you using? how heavily stocked is the tank?

What does it mean that you cannot get a reading at all?

Obviously, you get a reading of some sort, right?

Yeah I do using the Red Sea ABC kit but I have to fill the saerinege again half way. Basically my test results are super low
How is the tank doing? What is your coral load? Do you have a whole ton of corals and a whole ton of coralline? Or a clam that's growing?

Forgive my skepticism, but is there any chance that of a user error issue? For example, maybe starting with more tank water than normal in your testing cuvette? I'd confirm this with another test kit.

I use AFR in a fairly heavily stocked 15 gallon that is mostly hard corals, and I'm only using like 5 mls a day. Not saying that 30 ML a day is impossible, but it does seem remarkably high.

What's your calcium at?

30 ml would be adding about 1.8 dkh to your tank. Are you sure you are testing correctly?

My tank is doing great and corals love it but my reading is so low that I need to add 2.5 almost everyday. I’ll check my stuff again but there must be something I’m doing wrong here to get a negative reading to where I need to add more. Or maybe I need to break it up during my light period to see if I get a reading

I believe RHF is asking for a bit more clarity. Could you please provide what your numbers are as it relates to Alk, Ca, and Mg?

We don't know what your test results are. We don't know what it was before you started. We don't know when you started to dose. Too many unknowns and the 4th was a few days back so I'm all out of the force...

I dose AFR in 3 of my tanks. It has kept ALK rock solid 8.5 for months. My 25gal lagoon I’m dosing 5ml a day. My large 200gal LOADED with corals and I’m at 25ml a day. I can’t imagine doing 30ml in a small tank. Something is not testing right. WhTs your alk??

wait what just 25 ml in a 200 gal?? my 60 gallon needs 45 a day. do you dose anything beside AFR?

25ml / day in a mature 200 gallon? Are these 1/4" frags or soft corals? I'm 100/ml day in a 210...
