I upped my dosage of All for Reef. I was doing about .05 ml twice a day, and increased it 1.20 ml twice a day. I started noticing oily gunk on the glass, above the water line. I thought it was algae, but it's not. The glass is actually quite clean and I only have to scrape it once a week. I also noticed oily residue on the water's surface. It looks like flakes of oil (I know, it doesn't make sense) on the surface. The "flakes" never join or attach to each other. They're separate. I usually remove them during water changes by skimming the surface of the water. I don't believe it's harmful, because all of the corals are happy.
I heard a similar thing mentioned on the latest episode of Reef Therapy. I'm wondering if any AFR users are experiencing the same thing, and what's causing it. It is just a byproduct of the reaction between the AFR solution and the bacteria?
