I’m using all for reef powder. I like the idea of dosing one thing for both alk and calcium. My problem is I am already at the max recommended dosage of 200ml per day for my 240 gallon reef. I have about 10 SPS colonies and another 10-15 good sized frags. I’m struggling to get dkh to 7.5. I’m averaging about 6.8 using a Hannah checker. Is it safe to dose more? Should I switch to something else? If I switch what should I use that doesn’t contain trace elements and lastly how do I know how much of the new product to dose after stopping all for reef.

Yes! If they are consuming then dose more.... not sure where 200 max comes from?

you can definitely dose more if needed to maintain your desirable parameters. I have a Fluval 13.5(roughly <10g net) and i am dosing 4ml a day. the reccommend is 2.5ml but that is just to start with.
I would find out your daily consumption and adjust from there. Also, as you adjust, test daily at the same time to monitor where you want your parameters.

@Lou Ekus can chime in I know I read something before about dosing more than recommend on the bottle.

There's a "famous tank" that is being maintained with three times the maximum recommended dose without any adverse effect. Should be Zack@Brs's tank if I'm not mistaken.

Just be very careful when upping your dose. It takes a few days for the adjustments to take effect. Up the dose a little bit wait a couple of days or a week then up it. Also try using two different types of tests. If you are using a Hanna that's getting towards the end of the bottle it will read low. I went from 4.9 to over 12 because I up it each day and when it finally kicked in it really kicked in!

As long as you are not doing it too fast, I don't see an issue. The "max dose" is rather low and wouldn't meet the demand in many tanks.

It's really to make sure that folks do not overdose before knowing what is actually needed.

We still have the "recommended" dose as is on the label. That being said, I do know of a number of people who are exceeding that dosage without any issues. But we keep our recommendation where it is for the meantime.

Another option that you could do is to also dose Kalk along with AFR.
That is what I do and works great! I love AFR.
Wouldn’t this affect the ratio of elements being provided by AFR though?

Yes, but if you determine you need them you can dose them separately..
