Question about all for reef. The instructions on the tub say to monitor alk, but I've been reading a lot of threads where everyone says to monitor calcium. Which do I do? When I mix up the liquid, what's the best way to store it? Between all my tanks I use less than 30-40 ml of red Sea ALK daily, for now.

When I started dosing I dose 15 ml and would check alk next day and attempt to adjust. Never tested cal when dialing in just a little bit after to make sure it was not dropping. Took a month and a bottle and a half of Hanna reagent but I got there. I pretty much went cold turkey of 2 part with my tank full of big acros which in hindsight was reckless. That’s why I tested so frequently( same time in AM and same in PM) That was 2 years ago and now I dose 28ml daily and everything is rock solid with the exception of MG that I adjust monthly with TM magnesium but I am talking a drop of 20 points or so monthly.

I must be mixing it wrong or something. I made a batch with 500ml of rodi and 3 scoops like the label says(1000ml/6 scoops) although the website says 900ml and 6 scoops. But there is about a teaspoon that won't dissolve. What am I doing wrong?

Do you have a kitchen scale? Can you please check the weight of 3 scoops of the powder? What is the color of the scoop, please?

Depends on your tank's consumption. I would monitor both alk and calcium and see how they do with all for reef. In my own tank, I lose alkalinity quicker than I do calcium so I just dose to maintain calcium and make up the difference with soda ash in the top off water.

I found that weighing in the powder is more accurate then the scoop . I also got a magnetic stirrer for mixing from amazon .

I second this. I use a kitchen scale to measure/weigh the powder and use a magnetic stirrer to mix. Works perfectly.
