Quick question for anyone who has owned an all in one aquarium. I am looking for one with the compartment in the back of the tank where the compartment is transparent out the back of the tank. The reason (which is a subject for a separate post, please not to be debated here) is I would like to set up a small reef tank in an all in one system using the back compartment for an algae turf scrubber (ATS). I will want to put a light on the back of the tank pointing into the compartment for the ATS.

These are some of the systems I have been researching:

-BioCube 32 Aquarium
-JBJ Nano Cube Rimless 30 Gallon
-R&J Fusion 29 Gallon
-Fluval M90 Reef, 36 Gallon

If anyone has used these I would really appreciate the information. It has been hard to confirm by the manuals and images I have seen if they are completely transparent. Please feel free to add any other useful comments on the systems in question, or if you have used any other systems with transparent compartments that could be considered. Thank you!

With the JBJ series you can peel the black backing off as I did with my 45. Check out MarineDepot.com videos on upgrades for these tanks.

I use the Biocube 32 as a QT tank and I can confirm that the back glass is clear. I think the older models had black vinyl

Great information. Thank you!

I was able to find a good M90 video that showed the detail of the back of the tank. It was transparent. The aquarist had utilized a refugium in one of the compartments which makes me optimistic about its use for an algae scrubber.

I also like the drain built into the tank and cabinet on the M90 which seems great for water changes and has potential for future customization.

Just wanted to give closure and update this thread. I do not enjoy reading threads that do not resolve. I ended up going with the JBJ Rimless 30 aquarium. The back is covered in black as mentioned above and the black can be removed. If interested you can find a link to my build thread in my signature.
