I recently purchased some more All In One Bio Pellets. I had a 1L bag from way back and finally ran out so I purchased a bag of the XL and a bag of the smaller pellets. When I opened the bag of the XL pellets I noticed that the colour is a lot lighter than my old bag of the original size. In my old bag, the pellets were a dark mocha colour, whereas the XL pellets are a lighter tan colour. At first I thought it was just the XL were lighter, but I recently opened the bag of the smaller, original size pellets and they are also the tan colour and not the dark brown the original ones were.

I always thought the dark brown was due to the GFO that was embed in the pellet, so I guess the new pellets have less GFO? Anyone else noticed the change or did I just have an odd bag?

Just an update. I have now mostly swapped over to the "new" lighter coloured small pellets. They are definitely a different colour than the original ones. They stay a light tan colour, kind of looks like caramel colour, where the original ones look much darker. Since I have them both in the reactor at the same time, it is easy to see the difference. Will have to wait and see if the change in the amount of GFO embed (which is what I am attributing the colour shift to), improves the performance. I previously had found that the original ones seemed to lower PO4 more aggressively than NO3, so this new formulation might be better balance. Time will tell.
