Hey,

Question- I have an all in one drop in kit for a 20g long, but I have a 40 breeder. Is it OK to still use it for get rid of it? I don't see the harm in using in, but I'm still fairly new in the hobby and wanted to hear some thoughts on this as I may be missing something.

I'll attached a picture from the internet. To my knowledge, just the filter sock. I'll have to buy the corresponding pump and tube. I'll have to get sand, media and rock myself.

I just want to know if I can use this 20g all in one drop in kit for a 40 breeder without any problems

if it will fit and suit you needs use it..save some money...if its acrylic silicone wont adhere it real well to the glass. Maybe look at a sikkaflex polyurathane

Ok thanks. I'll figure out how to get it to stay in place. I'll look into what you suggested

What's your plan for it?

You can drop that into a 40b, yes. It won't have nearly enough flow for a 40b but neither would a drop in for a 40b. This is equivalent to using a smaller hang on back filter then is recommended. You can use it. If this is going to be a reef, your primary filter really is your rock to start with.

I want to create a cleaner look on the tank. Currently running a hob Tidal 55 and want to take it down, hide my heater, have a spot to culture some pods for my Dragonette. Tank has been up for about a yr now with Softies and LPS. Bare bottom. Just want Ryu clean up the wires and stuff (as you can guess, no sump. No space for it)

They make an aoi dropin for a 40b. If that's your plan, grab one instead of the one you have. They are really clean looking.
Yea clean look in the tank and finish is what I'm going for. I saw the 40b one, but I wanted to know since I already had the 20g one could I just use that. Don't want to spend $135 if I don't have to lol

That wouldn't look clean to my eye, but I'm Also, not a fan of overflows in tanks. I've seen the 40 breeder AOI drop-ins and they look good so long as they were installed well. It makes the dimensions of the 40 breeder a little more cube feeling.
I am talking about the drop in that attaches to the short side, not the false back for the long side.

It does shrink the tank by about 4-5 inches in length. I don't use the entire length anyway so it wouldn't bother me much
