I have no experience with these all in one tanks so I was wondering what you guys think of them.

Finnex or Cadlights.

Thanks.

I was looking at these as well and have been for a while. From what I've seen on nano-reef and a couple other places, seems like a lot of people go with the oceanic biocubes because there are so many different mods out there and they have been around for a while.

I have also seen great things about the finnex and cadlight tanks as well.

i'm looking at getting one in the 9g-12g range also. but it will be for a mantis, so i'm not looking for something with bright lights.

tell you the truth, i haven't found one i've liked "all around".

i would like 1g fuge, about a 1g return area, and a small area to fit a small nano-skimmer (like the remora nano skimmer).

so that pretty much throws out all of the stock cubes (like oceanic, jbj, nanocube etc.)

so i was thinking i might get a stock 9g cadlights tank (with the cool T5 light they sell with it). and just build on the back part with fuge/return myself.

I love my bio cube if you don't need halides. IMO on a tank that small a skimmer isn't really needed. (I guess it would keep oxygen levels up)

I would like a fuge area though. When I get the halide for it, I'm going to make a custom fuge that sits above the tank.

well, mantis shrimp are messy eaters...so thats why i want a small skimmer. ;)

i plan on there being many large openents for him to feast on.....muahaha

right now, i have a 7g minibow, with a converted AC110 on the back. the big thing that bugs me about this is...well several things.

-you gota take the pump out to clean every now and then, otherwise it may get stopped up with sand/algae. and to do this you gota drain the back of the AC110 to unattach it.

-i get all kinds of macro algae stuck on the intake, gota clean it off.

so i'd rather have some sort of overflow into another chamber, and then a return pump i can easily remove for cleaning. i like the concept behind the false walls in the biocube and others, but they just aren't big enough for my needs.

I was never a big fan of the all in one nanos. Not much room to customize. Your really locked in to whatever comes stock.. no ability to plumb to a larger system, under powered flow in most, plus no fuge on many of them. I cant see running a tank with out a fuge... especially a nano. My preference is a glass tank (that can be drilled at my convenience) an external fuge with revers lighting and the ability to add or remove flow as wanted. Not to mention lack of lighting abilities/choices. If it isnt open top your kinda stuck...

JMO... those are all nice tanks though..

That is the great thing about an all in one nano. No need to worry about fuges, skimmer, sumps, etc... therefore cutting down on possible problem area's. The more components you have with a tank the more that can go wrong.

I have a 24 gallon nanocube that I love. 2 local guys who had the regular 20L tanks went with a biocube after seeing my setup.

Go check out www.nano-reef.com in the all in one section and see the current winner in the Reef Central nano Tank Of The Month contest and you will see that you are FAR from stuck with these setups.

I totally disagree. No offense. With a nano tank I want as much water as possible, as well as full controllability of everything happening in the tank. Having more components is only going to be a problem if they are of poor quality or not maintained correctly.
In a contained 10g tank, you are way more likely to see unstable conditions where those add ons will be a necessity. worrying about those things during setup, will give you peace of mind later on.
I mean, to each his own, Its just my opinion...:)

The new Red Sea, all in one tank looks VERY nice. It has EVERYTHING, skimmer, heater, t-5's, extra flow, fuge area. Only bad thing is the price tag.
